Americans for the Arts recently merged its operations with the Arts & Business Council, Inc. (A&BC). By combining its resources and programming initiatives with A&BC, Americans for the Arts will be able to more effectively achieve its goal of increasing private-sector support for the arts in America. A&BC is devoted to stimulating partnerships between the arts and businesses that benefit both sectors and the communities they serve. It is the oldest such arts and business partnership association in the world. Initially limited to local services in New York City, A&BC now runs national programs, such as Business Volunteers for the Arts and The National Arts Marketing Project, and has seventeen affiliates. The current national work of A&BC will become the Arts & Business Council of Americans for the Arts, while A&BC's New York-centric work will continue as the Arts & Business Council of New York.
